Spam filters are progressively unable to white list many friendly email senders
Most anti spam filters are incapable of white listing email from certain list servers and automated email systems.
If you are using one of the vast majority of anti spam filters on the market today, you may have noticed that you are not able to white list email from certain senders. No matter how many times you ask the software to white list email from these senders, it seems to have no lasting effect and subsequent email simply doesn't get through.
You may also notice that the email which you are unable to white list, originates from particular list servers or automated email systems,. such as yahoo groups or other subscription services.
The reason for this inability to white list, is that anti spam applications generally depend upon the senders email address to generate a white list entry. After the sender's email address is recorded in the white list, subsequent emails from the same sender are white listed. Anyway, that's how it is supposed to work...
The reality is a bit different. Many list servers and automated email systems often construct a unique sender email address for each email they send out. These addresses are usually similar, but not identical. For instance, they may have a sequence number embedded within the address. This subtle change is sufficient to cause the white list entry to no longer match the sender. The entry is now completely ineffective.
The Solution
In addition to traditional sender-based white listing, EMP offers the ability to white list based on complex patterns. These patterns can exist anywhere within the email message (header or body), or even within the SMTP protocol itself. This means that, a sender whose email address constantly changes, can now be effectively white listed.
Extensible Messaging Platform ( EMP 7 ), will stop Exchange spam, phishing attacks and email borne viruses before they reach Exchange Server or the organization's employees and customers.
